The Players

Researched these areas of Luhansk, Donetsk, and Crimea. These peoples were Russian until 1922. Their language and customs are those of Russia. In 1922 they were told they were now a part of Ukraine. In 2014 these areas declared independence except for Crimea which has been independent since 1991. Crimea is recognized as independent, the other 2 are not. Attempts since then by Ukraine to change their culture from their Russian ways results in conflict. These regions appear to want independence and freedom to be who they are.
