Based on the title you would think you should be taking a pill made of radiation.
Not the case. Yet neither does this article tell you anything about these magical radiation pills.
I'm assuming they are talking about potassium iodide which are not radioactive or anti-radiation as I sometimes see it stated. The idea is basically to flood the body with a "healthy" iodine to such an extent that if your body is suddenly exposed to radioactive iodine it will immediately be eliminated as your body can't use any more of it thus protecting (mainly your thyroid) you from a longer exposure to more the damaging energies of other forms of radioactive iodine. It is not a fix-all either; if you have been exposeed to a huge amount of radiation in a small time frame it can not and will not protect you from acute radiation poisoning etc
(I have a bachelors in Nuclear Medicine so yes- I have some prior knowledge I can pull out of my back pocket periodically)

OK - so here's my take:
At first I wasn't sure who was telling the truth. On one hand I find it hard to believe the Ukraine side would be able to do what they claim with what they claim- not to say they couldn't be lucky. Now that I see the above story I am going to temporarily conclude that the Ukraine story is a farce and they are trying to capitalize on it as propaganda as a false sort of "win". If they had outright managed this feet they would have been singing about it far and wide immediately. The fact they don't bring it up until Russia announced the fire is the lynch pin.
