“Roe” Appeals Roe v. Wade to 5th Circuit Court of Appeals
"The former plaintiff known as "Jane Roe" in the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized abortion sought to have the case overturned in a motion filed Tuesday that asks the courts to consider new evidence that abortion hurts women."
“Ultimately, the United States Supreme Court will determine whether Roe should be vacated because it is no longer just.” He explained that “the Supreme Court has a duty to reexamine its precedents because of changed legal and factual conditions.”

Roe V. Roe: The Woman Behind the Famous Abortion Case: Newsweek
"outraged by abortions performed late in pregnancy, she believes that they should be legal in the first three months"
"McCorvey has for years been tormented, both by her decision to seek an abortion in 1969 and by her special role in history."
"Her life, by her account, was not amounting to much: a runaway, thief, alcoholic and drug addict, she'd already had two other kids. She dropped out of school in ninth grade and was drifting from state to state."
"She had not, in fact, been raped. She had made up that story to get sympathy and increase the odds of getting an abortion."
""Have you ever seen a second-trimester abortion? It's a baby."
Jane Roe: I was paid to speak against abortion by pro-lifers
"the pro-life movement paid her to join their side and speak out against abortion"
"I took their money and they put me out in front of the cameras and told me what to say. And that’s what I’d say," she says in the documentary. "I did it well, too. I am a good actress."
""At a few points she was on the payroll so to speak. There were so many different elements of the movement that were cutting checks to Norma, I’ll never know how much was actually given to her. ... Norma would complain that she wasn’t getting enough money. Her complaints were met with checks. Several hundred dollars to a few thousand at a time. What we called benevolence gifts. There was some worry that if Norma wasn’t paid sufficiently, she would go back to the other side.”"
""What we did with Norma was highly unethical."
She did it for the money.
What really went on in the Roe v Wade story?
"Norma McCorvey, the “Jane Roe” of the case ... had the baby and gave her up for adoption"
"She wanted an abortion. She said she had been raped – hoping to boost her chances of getting an abortion – but later admitted the relationship, with a married man, had been consensual."
"two young lawyers, Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington, who were looking for a test case so they could challenge the Texas abortion laws. Norma fit their needs."
"When Norma realised that the laws wouldn’t change in time for her to get a legal abortion, she was furious."
“I was nothing to Sarah and Linda, nothing more than a name on a piece of paper,”
“After each rejection I came home, got drunk, and pounded my fists into my belly in frustration.”
"she only joined the anti-abortion side because she’d been paid to do it"
Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Warning About Roe v. Wade Came True
"While it may seem unlikely, Ginsburg ... was a frequent critic of Roe v. Wade, especially its framing and the speed in which it was pushed through. In a much-quoted lecture she gave at New York University in 1992, Ginsburg noted how Roe was an example of how "Doctrinal limbs too swiftly shaped...may prove unstable.""
"Ginsburg was in essence disagreeing with Roe's base argument that the right to abortion was based on the privacy of a woman with her doctor, and not a violation of equal protection as guaranteed by the Constitution."
"Roe isn't really about the woman's choice, is it?" Ginsburg told the University of Chicago Law School in May 2013. "It's about the doctor's freedom to practice...it wasn't woman-centered, it was physician-centered."
From 1989: Reconsidering Roe
"Many Court watchers predict it will overturn Roe. And many people mistakenly believe that such a ruling would outlaw abortion."
"In reality, overturning Roe would put the abortion question back where it belongs—in the legislative arena. Regardless of what one thinks of the result, the 1973 decision represents an egregious example of judge-made law."
Why Ruth Bader Ginsburg Wasn’t All That Fond of Roe v. Wade - The New York Times
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was Right: Roe v. Wade was always destined for the Scrap Heap
"Ginsburg argued that while the Texas statute at issue in Roe ... certainly deserved to be struck down, the Court had "ventured too far" when it "called into question the criminal abortion statutes of every state." This "heavy-handed judicial intervention was difficult to justify," she argued, "and appears to have provoked, not resolved, conflict.""

What happens now that Roe v. Wade is overturned?
Everything is in the hands of the states.
States that cared to do so had plenty of time leading up to prepare and have certain laws trigger. Those who saw no reason to change their current state laws regarding abortion needn't do anything. Those who want to foment mayhem didn't act at all.
