What is libertarianism? | Britannica
"Libertarianism is a political philosophy that takes individual liberty to be the primary political value. It may be understood as a form of liberalism, which seeks to define and justify the legitimate powers of government in terms of certain natural or God-given individual rights. The central philosophical issue is not individuality versus community, but rather consent versus coercion."

Conservatism | History, Intellectual Foundations, & Examples | Britannica
"the belief that society is not merely a loose collection of individuals but a living organism comprising closely connected, interdependent members. Conservatives thus favour institutions and practices that have evolved gradually and are manifestations of continuity and stability. Government’s responsibility is to be the servant, not the master"

"private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market"
"republic, form of government in which a state is ruled by representatives of the citizen body. Modern republics are founded on the idea that sovereignty rests with the people"
"liberal democracy, a form of democracy in which the power of government is limited, and the freedom and rights of individuals are protected, by constitutionally established norms and institutions."
Liberalism | Definition, History, & Facts | Britannica
My take: Modern liberalism has fervently embraced the first part, and abysmally forgotten the second:
"liberalism...Liberals typically believe that government is necessary to protect individuals from being harmed by others, but they also recognize that government itself can pose a threat to liberty."

Democratic Socialists of America - Wikipedia
"DSA members espouse a wide variety of ideologies within democratic socialism, including the democratic road to socialism, libertarian socialism, orthodox Marxism, evolutionary socialism, Trotskyism, and others, as well as Marxism–Leninism. Lines of thought such as socialist feminism and eco-socialism are also widely followed. DSA members have varying positions on democratic economic planning and market socialism, reform and revolution, democratic centralism and horizontalism, and degrowth. The DSA underwent major ideological shifts after 2016, when many young and new members brought the DSA to adopt anti-Zionist and pro-Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions positions as well as to include a wider range of ideological tendencies than its original focus on only reformist and popular front tactics. At the 2023 DSA National Convention, Marxist and revolutionary socialist factions won a majority of seats on the DSA's 2023-2025 National Political Committee."

I found this confusing so here is my summary:
1) Marxism is a violent seizure of a country who rules by dictatorship to get to a socialist society.
2) I am betting that once a dictator, always a dictator applies here, and the goal of socialism is never actually achieved.
